Houba VR
July 1st 2018 to April 8th 2019
Houba is a VR experience currently avaible in the Parc Spirou Provence. This project has been realized during an internship agreement of 6 months, then 4 months at working some week-ends, for DTVCOM. For this project, we was a team of 3 students for 6 months, then 2 for 4 months .
The goal of the project was to immerse the visitors inside the “Palombienne” forest alongside the Marsupilami, surrounded by fauna and flora from the world of the comic.
My job in this production was programmer and VFX artist, I’ve worked with another programmer and a 3D artist. This application was developed with Unity 3D for the Oculus GO.
What I’ve learned
- Composing a production plan spread over 6 months
- Program an efficient and optimized code to improve the performance of the application.
- Integrate the animations of different animals and program them a defined or random behavior.
- Optimize the different parameters offered by the engine (shader, material, occlusion culling, etc …) in order to maximize performance and maintain a stable FPS rate.
- Program non-greedy shaders to meet project needs
- Use the Oculus library
- Program the interaction of particles with each other and with the environment and modify their behavior in real time with scripts.
- Make moving objects interact with particle systems.
